Industry sector
The center seeks to improve the efficiency of energy consumption and the use of feedstock in the industrial sector, which consumes about 46% of the total primary energy consumed in the Kingdom. From this standpoint, Efforts and initiatives have been focused in the field of high-consumption industries by developing the necessary policies, regulations and procedures in full cooperation and coordination with the relevant authorities and by benefiting from international expertise in this field. In terms of feedstock utilization efficiency, the scope of work focuses only on primary feedstocks, which are defined to include hydrocarbon cracking, ammonia, methanol, propane dehydrogenation (PDH), isobutylene, and benzene-toluene-xylene (BTX).
The current scope of work covers all existing and new plants falling within the petrochemical, cement, iron and aluminum sectors that are under the operation, feasibility study, design or implementation stage.
List of targets and requirements for energy efficiency and feedstock use for consumption-intensive industrial sectors for the first cycle 2014-2019
This initiative aims to monitor and ensure that energy-intensive industrial companies meet the specified energy efficiency requirements during the first cycle, by collecting and analyzing energy consumption data annually, verifying its accuracy, and issuing related reports. It also includes following up on the implementation of energy efficiency improvement plans to achieve the specified goals.
List of targets and requirements for energy efficiency and feedstock use for consumption-intensive industrial sectors for the second cycle 2020-2025 AD:
This initiative builds on the efforts made in the first cycle, where the framework has been updated to include energy efficiency and feedstock usage requirements for the second cycle, where energy and feedstock consumption data are collected annually, verified, and relevant reports are issued. It also includes following up on the implementation of improvement plans to achieve the desired goals during this cycle.
Energy Management Program
This program aims to promote a culture of energy efficiency management across various industrial sectors in the Kingdom. This includes providing guidance manuals and training tools that help establishments understand the energy management system and its importance, and apply it in accordance with best practices in this field.
