Industry sector
The center seeks to improve the efficiency of energy consumption and the use of feedstock in the industrial sector, which consumes about 46% of the total primary energy consumed in the Kingdom. From this standpoint, Efforts and initiatives have been focused in the field of high-consumption industries by developing the necessary policies, regulations and procedures in full cooperation and coordination with the relevant authorities and by benefiting from international expertise in this field. In terms of feedstock utilization efficiency, the scope of work focuses only on primary feedstocks, which are defined to include hydrocarbon cracking, ammonia, methanol, propane dehydrogenation (PDH), isobutylene, and benzene-toluene-xylene (BTX).
The current scope of work covers all existing and new plants falling within the petrochemical, cement, iron and aluminum sectors that are under the operation, feasibility study, design or implementation stage.
